Educational Services
THE SERVICE
Since 2004, Dan Lundquist has provided educational services to various sized groups interested in financial topics. In some of the corporate client groups, he is known as “the 401k guy”, as a result of years of providing education about the features and benefits of the local retirement plan. Dan has been instrumental in improving participation rates, raising deferral rates, and increasing asset allocation utilization in a significant number of 401k plans.
Dan keeps his audience engaged with a lighthearted approach to sometimes complex financial topics. He uses both his professional and personal experiences to draw analogies to the world of investing in ways that help his audiences better understand some of the financial concepts that can easily elude the everyday investor. With a deep-rooted appreciation for the challenges that sometimes keep people from grasping financial concepts, Dan is steadfastly committed to the idea that his audiences leave his presentations with a better understanding of their own financial situations and the necessary actions they can take to control their own financial destiny.
If you have a group, large or small, please feel free to contact us at Big Timber Wealth Management to discuss speaking or educational arrangements (references upon request).
THE STORY
At the ripe young age of 12, both of Dan’s parents played a role in his present career as a financial advisor. When he started earning money from shoveling snow in the winter and mowing lawns in the summer, Dan's mom suggested he start a Christmas Club. He learned the value of a regularly scheduled savings plan, and by early December each year, his Christmas Club savings provided him with enough money to buy presents for his parents and his three “unworthy” older brothers!
Soon thereafter, Dan’s father told him that if he invested his money and purchased stocks and stock-based mutual funds, Dan could own companies that would be working to make him money, perhaps on the other side of the world while he opened presents on Christmas Day. The combination of saving early in life and taking that first step to invest those savings is what lies at the heart of Dan’s desire to help people financially.
